Assessment
A multimedia presentation, What Works for You (PPT 170KB), viewed as a whole class activity, is structured to gauge the students’ prior knowledge and interest in the topic. Graphic organisers, including a placemat brain storm and word splash are activities featured as part of these introductory activities. A student booklet will be used by students to record their initial thoughts which can be compared with their blog and wiki entries later in the project.

Assessment of student work will be ongoing. The introductory activities and teacher reflections from observation, questioning and an analysis of the student booklets, blog and wiki will help shape the teaching and learning process. Students will also use the blog journal and self-reflection tools as part of an ‘assessment as learning’ strategy.

A student Self Assessment (DOC 46.5KB) and 21st Century Skills Assessment (DOC 42.5KB) will also be used to guide the students and provide the teacher with a powerful summative assessment tool throughout the project, drawing from a range of sources. Informal feedback from the primary school children will also inform the assessment process.
