At South Ulsan Girls' Middle School, physical education teacher Dug Bong Choi is always looking for creative ways to engage his students in learning. Last year he teamed up with his wife Hyun Mi Park, also a teacher, to design a project that incorporates technology, capitalizes on students' interest in soccer, and builds the skills of teamwork and creativity.
Their World Cup project proved so successful that teachers at nearby schools expressed interest in adopting the husband-and-wife team's winning strategy for the classroom. In fact, their project became the first school implementation case study using the Intel® Teach to the Future program.
Park teaches computer science at Ulsan Commercial Girls High School. In 2002, she was selected to be one of about 25 national leaders for the Intel Teach to the Future program. As the representative for the Ulsan province, she spent a week in Seoul, learning strategies for integrating technology into the classroom.
