Intel® Teach Program Leadership Forum
Essentials Course | Thinking with Technology Course | Leadership Forum
 
This interactive forum for school leaders is only offered in select locations. The Intel Teach Leadership Forum provides face-to-face professional development focusing on the importance of leadership in promoting, supporting, and modeling the use of technology in instruction. Through the forum, participants explore relevant research and behaviors related to supporting effective technology integration and associated professional development.

All forum materials are provided free of charge and include a CD containing relevant research, case studies, and other resources to help leaders implement their action plans.
 
 
 
Goals
 
In this 4-hour forum, participants engage with their peers to:
  • Examine the critical role leaders play in the effective integration of technology into teaching and learning
  • Apply their knowledge to create a prioritized list of leadership behaviors that impact the integration of technology as a tool to improve student learning
  • Analyze the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A)
Synthesize their understanding to begin development of a personalized action plan to implement in their school or district
 
 
 
Leading effective technology integration
The forum offers principals, superintendents, and curriculum directors an opportunity to develop a personalized action plan to lead change in their schools.

Scalable program model
 
Based on a peer-to-peer model, Senior Facilitators conduct a Leadership Forum for Master Leaders, who in turn conduct a forum for their peers.
 
 
How to get involved
 
Participation in the Leadership Forum is available to state department of education administrators school superintendents, district superintendents, curriculum directors, and school principals in select locations. Select your state to retrieve contact information.

Curriculum overview
 
The Leadership Forum guides instructional leaders as they support and promote effective integration of technology in K-12 classrooms. Through hands-on activities in a computer lab, participants engage with research about technology integration and student inquiry as effective approaches to improving student achievement. This four-hour forum provides direction and options for developing plans that can be implemented to address the unique circumstances of each school or district.

This forum guides leaders through six hands-on modules focused on relevant research, case studies, and alignment to standards:
  • Module 1: Introducing the Forum
  • Module 2: Exploring Best Practices
  • Module 3: Examining Leadership Standards and Behaviors
  • Module 4: Constructing Your Personal Action Plan
  • Module 5: Looking at Available Resources
  • Module 6: Wrapping Up
Research findings ›
Results from respondents reveal positive impact for instructional leaders:
  • Most participants said the ideas and skills they learned from the forum would help them improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement by supporting and promoting the integration of technology.
  • A large majority said the "likelihood of forum ideas and skills improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement by supporting technology" was yes.
  • Most Participant Leaders reported that they would recommend the forum to a friend or colleague.
